The Haute Qualité Environnementale (HQE) – High-Quality Environmental standard – is the French certification awarded to building construction and management as well as urban planning projects worldwide. The standard is controlled by the HQE Association (BeHQE), a Paris-based public service organization.
HQE certification covers a building's entire lifecycle and considers energy efficiency, respect for the environment, and the health and comfort of occupiers. It promotes best practices in the sustainable development and operation of buildings and sustainable local developments.
It covers residential and all categories of non-residential buildings – logistics, retail outlets, hotels, etc. It is also used for urban planning and development.
