Event Safety Measures
A valid EU Digital COVID Certificate (Austrian "Green Pass") or other COVID certificate is required for HDI Vienna 2021. Safe distancing between seats is assured at the event.
Requirements for the Austrian "Green Pass" (vaccination certificate) are met by individuals who prove they have been vaccinated against, recovered from, or been recently tested for COVID-19 and supplements other valid COVID certificates. The Green Pass shows that one has received a corona vaccination ("vaccination certificate"), has a current negative COVID test ("test certificate"), or has recovered from COVID-19 ("recovery certificate").
The Green Pass becomes valid for vaccinated individuals 22 days after a dose and expires three months after the first dose and six months after the second. For individuals who have recovered, it is valid for six months.
Negative PCR tests confer a Green Pass for 72 hours (48 hours in Vienna) and negative antigen tests for 24 hours. Antigen tests are widely available at pharmacies and testing facilities ("Teststraße").
Generally, travel to Austria is permitted from EU and EEA countries. All permitted arrivals must satisfy one of the following conditions to enter the country:
- A certificate proving full vaccination;
- Proof of past infection and recovery;
- A negative result from a PCR test issued no more than 72 hours before arrival or an antigen test issued no more than 48 hours before arrival; or
- A COVID-19 test within 24 hours after arrival.
Antigen test results are not accepted for unvaccinated arrivals from Cyprus and Spain who cannot provide proof of recovery from the virus.
Travelers from countries other than EU and EEA may also enter Austria, though unvaccinated arrivals must register with authorities before arrival and self-isolate for 10-days. The self-isolation period may be ended early by receiving a negative result from a COVID-19 molecular or antigen test taken on the fifth day after arrival.
